ATCs and other stuff

I finished my ATCs for the year of color ATC swap - May - green. I scanned a green art journal painting and then printed it 9 up. I added ribbon flowers made from some old Lil Davis ribbon that I purchased at Big Lots about 2 years ago.
These are for June - yellow. Again I scanned a layout but this time created flowers as accents.
A quickie watercolor painting on Yupo paper. It is a synthetic paper that has a shiny finish. You can actually wash the entire watercolor painting off of it and repaint. Once you have completed the painting, you need to spray it with fixative. My instructor had bought some samples of various paper for us to try. I doubt if I buy any of this type of paper as I did not enjoy painting on it.

Here's my easel with my best critic napping just beside.

And here she is - Hana, my favorite classic cinnamon tabby.
I also finished a layout for the Creative Type challenge but I will post it tomorrow.
More rain this afternoon - we actually had 2 1/2 inches yesterday.

The early bird ...

Good morning! My DH is volunteering at the Honda Classic golf tournament in West Palm this weekend so he had to get up at 5am to go down - unfortunately or fortunately I also woke up and actually got up then so I have been webbing and creating this morning. I actually made this little felt, lace, and button dress yesterday afternoon. I was totally inspired by Ranjini Manhoti 's(sp) tutorial on button dresses in a year of color blog. I can see myself making these for presents this year. I have lots of buttons for lots of color monos or combos.
I made this layout this morning - for both the Category Stories blog (precious) and the Lotus paperie blog (format) - I used a paper towel that I had used to blot glimmer mist, a doily I had used as a mask for glimmer mist, part of a Publix flyer, 7 gypsies words, and Heidi Swapp old rub on letters (the ones that don't work very well) The totally awesome flower came in the RAK that I won from Flotsom and Jetsom blog - so cool!

This is my assignment to do layers for the Art Journaling 102 class - it has 11 layers: gesso, green and turquoise paint, blue paint on bubble wrap, lavendar paint on cardboard, living planet sticker (from some new capris), dictionary pages, image stamping, writing, yellow paint (I used a Heidi Swapp old old star mask but it didn't stick so I just smeared the paint), letter stamping, and charms. What a fun project - I ate breakfast and did some tasks while letting the paint dry between coats.
Looks like it will be a beautiful day - it's 9:30 am so I'd better get dressed and make a pot of tea - with getting up at 5am, breakfast seems a long time ago. LOL!

A year of color - blue and white

Just thought I'd share a few blue and white images from my studio. I'm loving it that I discovered the A year of color blog (subscription only so I can't put in a link but you can buy a subscription for the year for $12 from artsymama on etsy). the photos are so totally eye candy and the list of instructors/presenters is awesome. Believe me, if you are into scrapping or crafting with paper or fabric, you would recognize the names of many of the bloggers involved. I searched around my studio for some blue fabrics, buttons, etc. I found the baby shoes at Goodwill for 75 cents and I plan to make pin cushions out of them (I saw some in an ad for Somerset Home a while back). I love that the label reads "child of mine" - so precious. The little Stocking is one that I did when we lived on our sailboat - since everything had to be small, most things I made were small - don't you love the vintage buttons - my mother gave them to me long long ago).
I should be making blue and white layouts but, for some reason, I did one on Wed after I got back from going to the quilt shops in Melbourne with a friend, and it was green and blue (posted yesterday) and last night I did one for the Stash diet on SIS and for Creative Type (resolution), and it is rose, pink and yellow (because I used a photo of the little vase I purchased last week thrifting). I'll post it later.
