Not quite 50 shades of grey

When I saw this challenge on Facebook http://paperissues.blogspot.com/2012/12/50-shades-of-basic-grey.html I decided that I just had to do it - I did read the first book in the series (from the library) but honestly I thought it was badly written and more importantly, why would anyone - man or woman - want to submit to punishment for enjoyment??? I think it says quite a bit about our society that many people think this is erotic.  I cannot imagine anyone who has ever had to live through physical or mental cruelty as a child or an adult wanting more of it - I know I don't!  End of story.
BUT I love the title - and those of us who paint have made many jokes about trying to achieve 50 shades of grey.... the above layout is done on Basic Grey papers with lots of this and that.  The photo is of my husband and his twin.
In the same spirit, that is, 50 shades of Basic Grey, here is a layout I did a while back on Basic Grey paper but I made the origami  hydrangeas from fabric scraps

Let's Ride at Paperissues!

I did this layout a while back for a Team Edward vs Team Jacob challenge

I really like Edward much better but so many people had picked Edward that I just had to be contrarian

and besides, I got this great idea to combine the picture of a wolf with a picture of a bike!

Another layout I did that is about cars is one I did for the late blog These are a few of my favorite things (so miss it!) I used to drive a Saturn and this photo was taken of me at the dealership when I bought it.

Paper issues new theme

We are going for a Father's day theme for the Paperissues challenge this time - this photo is of one of my DH's grandfathers. I just love it! I kept the layout pretty simple and had a fun time with the alphas.

Yesterday I spent the entire day in the studio - I almost forgot to eat lunch but I finished a big project that I will reveal on June 1. I also finished another quilt block and cut out 5 more - hopefully to sew today but there is so much racing and baseball that I might not get it done. I went out to Big Lots this morning as they are having a special holiday "blast" and they had the little flip style video recorders for $20.  I want to record some tutorials for my blog and DH wants to use it for recording and analyzing his golf swing. Sounds like fun! LOL! I wonder who will get to be his camera person!!!

Paperissues blog hop!!!!!!!

Welcome to my blog, and if you are here because of the http://paperissues.blogspot.com/ blog hop, a second welcome and hope you like what you see.  Our theme was favorites - so here is an altered frame project that is full of my favorites - the background is a watercolor painting of azaleas that I painted; the photo is of azaleas in my yard (so love them and this year the bushes were super abundant with blossoms - such a fantastic display of color!); the flowers are Prima (a favorite mfg), and piling on embellishments is one of my favorite methods of creation for layouts, altered items, and cards.

This project was actually done on the inside/backside of a prestretched canvas (I had used the other/right side for another project a while back and when I was looking through my storage cabinet for a frame, decided to take it apart and use it for this project. The painting was done on watercolor paper, glued to the canvas and then I added all of the "stuff". Finally I painted the canvas frame with pink and green acrylic paints and added the butterflies (some old but cherished K&co chipboard butterflies).
